What is a Horizontal Mixer?


A horizontal mixer is a large mixer that allows for continuous mixing. As one completed batch exits through a trough, the next batch enters the machine from the opposite side These mixers come with a selection of mixing arms that allows the baker to customize the type of dough being mixed. These machines are ideal for medium to large bakeries, as well as factories, that are needing to mix thousands of pounds of dough each day.

The disadvantage of horizontal mixers is that the constant friction of the dough rubbing against the sides of the mixing chamber can cause the dough to generate heat, damaging it.
